Best Baking Powder Substitutes for Your Recipes

Hi everyone! I’ve been having some fun in the kitchen lately, and I keep running into a common dilemma: what can I use instead of baking powder? It’s such a letdown to realize I’m out of it right when I’m about to whip up some fluffy pancakes or a delicious cake.

One of my favorite alternatives is baking soda paired with an acid. For example, you can mix one part baking soda with two parts cream of tartar. Another option is to use buttermilk or yogurt; just make sure to adjust the liquid in your recipe accordingly. In a pinch, vinegar and milk can also create a great leavening effect when combined with baking soda.
