As a home cook and graduate student, I’m always searching for kitchen tools that are safe for my toddler while also making meal prep easier. I recently revamped my small kitchen to include a space for my little one to join me in cooking, and it has been such a delightful experience! Here are some toddler-friendly kitchen tools that have made our cooking time enjoyable and safe.
Silicone spatulas are a fantastic option. They are soft and flexible, which means they won’t cause any harm if dropped. Plus, they come in bright, fun colors that make cooking more exciting for kids. A non-slip cutting board is also essential. It provides stability while your toddler learns to chop soft foods, like bananas or avocados, using a safe, blunt knife. This helps boost their confidence in the kitchen without sacrificing safety.
Measuring cups are another great addition! Letting your toddler pour ingredients into bowls is a wonderful way to get them involved in the cooking process. Look for sets that are designed specifically for small hands to make it easier for them to hold and use. Adding an apron and chef hats can make the whole experience even more enjoyable.
What toddler-safe kitchen tools have you found useful? Do you have any ideas for making cooking a fun learning experience for young children?
