How to Choose the Best Cooking Oils

There are so many cooking oils available today, and choosing the right one can be confusing. Each oil has its own flavor, smoke point, and health benefits, making it important to know what you’re looking for.

For high-heat cooking, oils like avocado or refined olive oil are great options because of their higher smoke points. However, for dressings or low-heat cooking, extra virgin olive oil or sesame oil can add wonderful flavor.

What are your go-to oils in the kitchen? Do you choose based on flavor, health benefits, or cooking method?

I usually keep it simple with a couple of favorites. Avocado oil is my go-to for frying because of the high smoke point, and I love using coconut oil for baking – it adds a nice flavor. For dressings, nothing beats olive oil for that fresh taste! How about you?

I usually switch between canola and grapeseed oil for frying since they have a high smoke point and are pretty neutral in flavor. For dressings, I love using walnut oil; it adds a nice richness that works well with salads. It really depends on what I’m cooking!
