What's the Best Way to Cook Beans for Flavor and Texture?

Cooking beans can be surprisingly tricky! With so many methods available, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Some folks swear by soaking beans overnight, while others prefer the quick soak or even skipping soaking altogether.

The cooking method also plays a crucial role in flavor and texture. Do you recommend boiling, slow-cooking, or using an Instant Pot? Each technique seems to produce different results.

For those with experience, what tips do you have for getting the best flavor and perfect texture from beans? Do you have favorite spices or techniques that elevate your dishes?

I’ve found that using the Instant Pot gives me the best results and saves so much time! Soaking overnight definitely helps, but the pressure cooking method really brings out the creaminess in the beans. A pinch of smoked paprika or cumin during cooking also adds a nice depth of flavor.

For great flavor and texture, I always go for slow cooking. Soaking overnight helps too, but if I’m pressed for time, a quick soak works fine. A mix of bay leaves and garlic while they cook makes a huge difference in taste. Just be careful not to overcook them!
